Josh's Statement on the passage of the Neighborhood Housing Plan

NEEDHAM, MA - On Monday, October 21, Needham's Town Meeting voted 118-90 in favor of the Neighborhood Housing Plan, which would allow the town to zone for multi-family housing and potentially create more units than the base-compliance plan.

Democratic Candidate Joshua Tarsky has long been a proponent of the expanded Neighborhood Housing plan, and had this to say on its passage, "I am pleased to see that the Neighborhood Housing plan was passed at Needham Town Meeting on Monday night. The passage of the expanded plan is a great step towards creating a more vibrant and dynamic future, and this is another example of Needham being a forward-thinking community. Our top priority now must be to get this housing built."

As Tarsky mentions, the passage of this plan does not mandate the building of any housing but merely changes the zoning laws to allow for it. Tarsky has made the construction of the housing that the plan intends to be a crucial part of his economic plan for the district.
